This show is awesome.  It wrapped up the first season and was renewed for a second, and I can’t wait for it to start back up again.  There’s so much going on with it that makes you laugh… although really, it probably shouldn’t be all that funny.  I’m sure it is somewhat realistic to some dirtbag parents that do raise their kids while drinking so much alcohol and taking so many drugs that half the time, they can’t even stand up.  They fake injuries and are considered “disabled” and don’t have to work for a living.  They take the money and use it at the bars or for their own enjoyment on things that they don’t need.  But realistic or not, this show is hilarious.

William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum are basically the lead, although all of the characters play a huge part in the show.  But they all do a great job of making everything believable, even though it’s so off the wall.  I don’t really want to say what happens because it will give parts away… but do yourself a favor and watch the first few episodes.  I think you can even watch the first one from Showtime’s website, which I linked above.  You’ll be hooked, almost guaranteed.  Or totally turned off and disgusted, but if that’s the case, you probably shouldn’t be reading Useful Mumbling.

I remember where I was during those attacks.  I was in 10th grade in Social Studies class, and my teacher came in and said that TWO planes had hit the World Trade Center, and that there was no way that this was an accident.  Then he went on to tell us about the coward called Osama bin Laden and his cult of murderers.  I was just dumbfounded… I couldn’t fathom the idea that someone was attacking America on our own soil.  I couldn’t believe that this could have ever happened.  Seeing those towers collapse was one of the worst things that I have ever witnessed, and that I will ever witness, in my entire life.  To see people jumping out of those buildings to end the suffering definitely brought me to tears while I was sitting in class.  I was just so sad for these people and for their families, and so angry that someone could do this to human beings on purpose.  I used to see the towers on the NYC skyline once a month or so while driving over the Verrazano Bridge to visit my grandmother in Queens.  Now, they were gone.  Going there a couple weeks later and not having them in the distance as we drove to New York, but only seeing a huge cloud of smoke that was still in the air, was awful.

The whole thing is just something I will never forget, and something that nobody will ever forget.  We cannot let history repeat itself.  We need to show these people that they cannot mess with us.  I don’t care what we have to do to eliminate them.  Anyone that just wants to murder innocent people like that should not have human rights.  Support our troops that are doing what the police, firefighters, and everyone else that was in danger on that day did for all of us.  They are risking and GIVING their lives for us.  Support them… they are supporting all of us, regardless of their own or our political opinions.

Never forget that day, those people, or the idea that all of this needs to be stopped.
